Workspace Ideas for Tight Spaces
Posted 5 years ago

With Back to School right around the corner, we thought it'd be a great idea to put together some ideas for workspaces. If you need a workspace for yourself or your kids, but lack the room for a traditional desk-chair setup, then keep reading!

Look For Items That Double As Two

Today, small pieces of furniture have built-in, concealed electrical outlets, USB ports, pull out drawers and trays. Take advantage of these added benefits by selecting items like this for your home. They give the functionality for top performance that your family needs. For instance, you may think an item is a traditional end table, but new designs now have sliding tops that open to reveal hidden storage compartments and file drawers. If you're using a regular sized laptop, look for pull-out trays with widths of at least 18" and depths of 11". Seen above is the Kraleene End Table that has all these great features! Take Advantage Of Small Desks

If you don't have the room for a large, traditional desk, look into a small desk. This versatile solution can be used as a side table or an accent table when it's not being used as a workspace. A great example is pictured above, which is the Innovex Zoey Black Desk. It can be used as a computer desk, but also so much more! Find this desk here: http://www.gomajik.com/innovex-zoey-black-computer-desk-2109.

Consider Other Spaces

If you spend a lot of time in the dining room or kitchen, it may be a natural fit to incorporate a workspace here. Drop-Leaf or Extension Tables are great for this option. They can be adjusted to the workspace that best for you and then put away to fit back into your space. Or if you have a kitchen nook, add a counter-height table. This allows you to spread out when working. As an added bonus, many counter-height tables even come with bottom shelves for additional storage. A great option for this is the Gia Counter Set from New Classic because it has two levels of storage under the table. It's seen above in brown, but also available in black. Visit the below links for each color.

Living Room Workspaces

An easy addition is a console table that can be put directly behind a sofa or loveseat. Pull up a chair and you immediately have an easy-access workspace. A Lift-Top Cocktail Table can also work as a table. Lift the top and you'll instantly have a flat surface at the perfect height for working. The above is the Kraleene Lift-Top Cocktail Table which matches the End Table above! It's perfect for creating that workspace in your living room at the right height for you and your family. Who says you need a desk anyway to create a functional workspace! We hope you enjoyed our list of workspaces and maybe it even gave you some inspiration for making your home more functional for school and work!
